Scale model of a concert hall

In spite of great progress on the ongoing development of room acoustic computer models, the scale model technique is still the most accurate for predicting the acoustics of more complicated room shapes and rooms with highly irregular surface structures, provided that the models are built with sufficient accuracy and made of the right materials.

Scale model of a concert hallFor a 1:10 scale model like the one on the photo to the right, the measurements are carried out at frequencies which are ten times higher than the full scale frequency range of interest (125 - 4000 Hz).

Therefore, the sound absorption properties of the materials used in the model must be chosen, so that at these ten times higher frequencies, they correspond to the absorption in the normal frequency range of the actual materials used in the real hall.
